Cookies in plain English
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. It lets the site remember something about your visit, such as whether you already dismissed a notice or which bouquet you were looking at before you got distracted. Bloom & Verse uses a deliberately small number of cookies. We are a flower studio, not an advertising network, and we have no interest in following you around the internet.
The cookies we actually use
Our website sets only the following categories of cookie.
- Essential cookies: needed for the site to work at all. These carry your session from one page to the next so an item in your basket does not disappear.
- Preference cookies: remember a small number of choices, such as the suburb you last selected for a delivery estimate and whether you have already answered our cookie notice.
- Analytics cookies: give us aggregate, depersonalised numbers about which pages are popular and how people move through the site. We use them to decide which bouquets to feature and which ones to retire.
We do not run advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels. No third party can use our website to build a profile of you.
How long cookies stay on your device
Session cookies disappear the moment you close your browser. Everything else we set lasts no longer than twelve months, and the analytics identifier is rotated well before that. Our preference cookie for the cookie notice itself expires after six months, at which point we will ask you again.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can delete or block cookies at any time from your browser settings. Every major browser has a privacy or security section where this is handled, usually under a heading like 'Cookies and site data'. Two things are worth knowing before you do it.
- Blocking essential cookies will break parts of the site. The basket and the checkout in particular will not function.
- Clearing your browser storage deletes your saved cookie preference, so our notice will appear again on your next visit to the homepage.
Questions about cookies
If you want to know exactly which cookies were set on your device during a visit, your browser's developer tools will list them under the storage or application tab. If anything is unclear, or if you would like us to explain a specific cookie, email bloomandverse@gmail.com or call the studio on +61 2 9137 4826. We answer cookie questions personally, usually the same day.
