GDPR and data protection commitments

Although we are an Australian business, we serve customers around the world and we take data-protection obligations seriously wherever you happen to live. For visitors and customers in the European Economic Area, we treat ourselves as a data controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and we handle personal data according to the six core principles: lawfulness, fairness and transparency; purpose limitation; data minimisation; accuracy; storage limitation; and integrity and confidentiality.

We rely on the following lawful bases for processing. For order fulfilment and delivery, our basis is the performance of a contract with you. For our newsletter, the basis is your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email. For analytics and site security, the basis is our legitimate interest in running a working website, balanced against your rights as an individual.

Your data-protection rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, or if you simply want to exercise these rights, you may contact us at any time to do the following.

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Request erasure of your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep for tax purposes.
  • Object to processing or ask us to restrict it.
  • Receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any point, without affecting any processing that happened before you withdrew it.

We respond to every data-protection request within thirty days. If you believe we have not handled your information properly you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or with the supervisory authority in your own country if you are in the European Economic Area. We ask only that you give us the chance to resolve the matter first.
